Real Estate Maximums, or RE/MAX, is a franchise-based international real estate corporation in the United States. Over 100,000 agents worked with RE/MAX in 6,800 offices as of 2015. More than 100 nations and territories are served by RE/MAX. In January 1973, Dave Liniger and Gail Main established RE/MAX in Denver, Colorado. Instead of giving their broker a commission cut from each sale, as is customary in residential real estate, agents would keep almost all of their earnings and just have to pay their broker a portion of the office expenses when the company was founded.
Dennis Curtin bought the first RE/MAX franchise in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1975—the first one outside Colorado. In under two years, the company grew to 100 franchises. 1976 saw the inaugural RE/MAX convention hosted in Las Vegas, which later became a yearly occasion. The company opened RE/MAX Europe in 1994 to extend its operations outside North America. Regional operations grew in South Africa, Germany, Italy, and Spain.
▶History of the REMAX Logo 🌞
1973-2017
The real estate company’s founders, Gail Main and Dave Linger, named it and gave it a patriotic colour scheme of blue, red, and white. The word “RE/MAX” was blended with these two elements to create the logo. The background was white, the letters were red, and a blue diagonal separated them.
2017-Present
For almost 45 years, the REMAX wordmark has remained the same. Everything changed when the business unveiled its new identity at the subsequent REMAX Broker Owner Conference in 2017. To adapt the logo for digital marketing, the Camp + King designers made a small tweak here and there but otherwise strove to maintain the original branding.
